In Laura's words
About me.
Hello, and welcome.
I understand that seeking therapy can feel like a significant step. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, loss, relationship difficulties, stress, low self-confidence, or simply a sense that something in your life is not quite right. Whatever brings you to therapy, I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard.
I am a qualified BACP-registered counsellor with several years of experience supporting adults from a wide range of backgrounds. Throughout my practice, I have worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, health-related challenges, relationship difficulties, life transitions, emotional distress, and issues relating to self-esteem and identity.
My professional experience includes providing counselling within charitable and community settings, supporting individuals facing complex emotional challenges, as well as facilitating therapeutic groups focusing on anxiety, stress management, mindfulness, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.
How I work.
My work is grounded primarily in Person-Centred Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. This means I believe that each person possesses an inherent capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you with empathy, acceptance, and authenticity as you explore your experiences and discover your own path forward.
Alongside Person-Centred Therapy, I draw on Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT). Many people struggle with self-criticism, shame, feelings of inadequacy, or a harsh inner voice. Compassion-Focused Therapy can help develop a kinder and more balanced relationship with yourself, reducing self-judgement and supporting emotional resilience.
Where appropriate, I also integrate creative and arts-based approaches. Sometimes emotions, experiences, and memories can be difficult to put into words. Creative methods can offer alternative ways of exploring feelings, gaining insight, and expressing aspects of ourselves that may otherwise remain hidden.
What to expect.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective counselling. I strive to create a space where you feel respected, understood, and accepted without judgement.
Clients often describe wanting:
- Greater self-confidence and self-acceptance
- Relief from anxiety or emotional overwhelm
- Support through grief, loss, or life changes
- Healthier relationships with themselves and others
- A better understanding of recurring emotional patterns
- Greater emotional balance and resilience
- A place where they can talk openly without fear of criticism
Therapy is not about being told what to do. It is about developing greater awareness, understanding your experiences more deeply, and discovering your own strengths and resources for change.
Online and telephone counselling.
I offer online counselling, providing flexibility and accessibility wherever you are. Online therapy allows you to engage in counselling from the comfort and privacy of your own environment while receiving the same level of professional support and therapeutic care.
My aim is to help you feel genuinely listened to, understood, and supported as we work together towards the changes that are meaningful for you.
I believe that every individual deserves compassion, understanding, and the opportunity to be heard. Whatever challenges you may be facing, you do not have to face them alone.
How it works
How sessions work with Flourish.
- Book a 30-minute initial assessment with Laura, £20. A conversation about what you would like from counselling and whether you and Laura are a good fit. No obligation to continue.
- Decide together. If you are both happy to work together, you begin weekly 50-minute sessions. If it does not feel right, you are welcome to book an assessment with another counsellor.
- Weekly sessions, up to 15. By video call or telephone, usually at the same time each week. At the end, you and Laura review what, if anything, comes next.
