Safeguarding and boundaries

Safeguarding and Support Boundaries.

This page explains what Flourish can support, what falls outside our scope, and what to do if you or someone else needs more urgent help than we can provide.

If you are in crisis right now. Flourish is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or crisis: Samaritans: 116 123(free, 24/7), NHS 111 for urgent mental health advice, Text SHOUT to 85258, 999 in a life-threatening emergency.

Our scope

What Flourish can support.

Our online counselling is a good fit for adults aged 18 and over in the UK who are looking for qualified, short-term support with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, grief, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and general wellbeing.

Because all of our counsellors are fully qualified and registered, we are able to work with a broader range of experiences than many low-cost services. However, our model is designed for short-term, online, one-to-one work.

When we may not be the right fit

Our limitations.

We may not be the most suitable service if you need:

  • Specialist psychiatric care or multi-disciplinary team support
  • Crisis-level intervention or intensive community mental health support
  • In-person sessions
  • Support as a young person under 18
  • Medication or medical management of a mental health condition

If Flourish is not the right fit for what you need right now, we will tell you honestly, and we will always try to point you towards something more suitable.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality and its limits.

Everything you share with your counsellor is treated as confidential. However, like all professional counselling services, there are rare circumstances in which a counsellor may need to act without your consent to protect your safety or the safety of others.

Your counsellor will explain their confidentiality approach at the start of your work together. If you have questions before then, please contact us.

Safeguarding

Our commitment to safeguarding.

Flourish is committed to the safety and welfare of everyone who uses our service. All counsellors hold an enhanced DBS check and complete safeguarding awareness as part of their onboarding.

If you have a safeguarding concern about yourself or someone else, please speak to your counsellor or contact us directly. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999.
