In Sam's words

About me.

If you are reading this then I want to warmly welcome you. I know that reaching out for help, especially if you have been struggling with something for a long time, can be really tough, but you have done it, you have taken the first step.

I offer a safe space in which you can talk about whatever is troubling you, taking up too much head space or holding you back, so that you can feel lighter and freer again.

My experience.

I have previously worked as a counsellor in the charity sector, with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and addiction issues, and in a specialist organisation with male and female clients who have suffered domestic violence and sexual abuse. I also have particular interest and experience in areas such as bereavement and loss, childlessness, and women’s health.

I have a degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, completed in 2015, and I am a registered member of the BACP, 212390.

How I work.

At the heart of my practice is a person-centred approach, nurturing a safe and non-judgemental space where clients can feel truly heard and accepted. I work collaboratively with clients, tailoring each session to suit the individual, and working with the client at their own pace.

I draw on a range of counselling approaches to support you. These focus on developing self-compassion and challenging inner critical voices, particularly where those are rooted in trauma or difficult life experiences. I also help clients pick up new ways to support their overall wellbeing, such as mindfulness-based activities.

What to expect.

In the first session we will focus on building our therapeutic relationship, discussing how we will work together and the goals we will work towards. Further sessions will develop this as we work through the issues that have brought you to counselling.

Some clients like to do reflective or journaling work themselves between sessions, and if that works for you it is something we can include.

Online and telephone counselling.

I offer counselling online by video call and by telephone, so you can have your sessions from wherever you feel most comfortable and most private. Whether we meet by video or by phone, you receive the same professional support and the same care. Sessions are booked in advance and take place at the same time each week wherever possible.

Life's struggles can pile up and get on top of us, everyone deserves a space to be heard and understood without judgement. If you're ready to talk, I'm here to listen.

How it works

How sessions work with Flourish.

  1. Book a 30-minute initial assessment with Sam, £20. A conversation about what you would like from counselling and whether you and Sam are a good fit. No obligation to continue.
  2. Decide together. If you are both happy to work together, you begin weekly 50-minute sessions. If it does not feel right, you are welcome to book an assessment with another counsellor.
  3. Weekly sessions, up to 15. By video call or telephone, usually at the same time each week. At the end, you and Sam review what, if anything, comes next.

WHAT ALL CLIENTS RECEIVE, REGARDLESS OF RATE.
Every person who works with Flourish chooses their own fully qualified counsellor, accountable to the BACP or UKCP. Ongoing sessions are structured around up to 15 weekly sessions. The rate you pay does not affect the quality of your counsellor or the clinical standard of your sessions.

You choose your rate on trust: no means-testing and no proof of income. Read about pricing and access.
